AT WINDERMERE

p.m. - Hiroshi Kishimine, Guitar Concert
Hiroshi Kishimine,
guitarist, will play a concert at Windermere on Thursday
evening, October 30, 8:00 p.m.. Originally from Tachikawa,
Tokyo, Japan, he began playing the guitar when he was 13. At
Campbell University, Buies Creek, NC, he began studying
classical guitar in 1996 as the school's first guitar major.
After receiving a BA in music (guitar performance) in 2000, he
went on to work on his master's degree in music (guitar
performance) at East Carolina University from 2001 to 2003. In
2004, he moved to Winchester, VA, to attend Shenandoah
University, where he received his doctorate degree in music
(guitar performance) in 2007. His primary instructors are Joey
Ikner, Dr.Elliot Frank, and Dr.Glenn Caluda. Currently he
resides in Wilmington, NC, running a private guitar studio, as
well as performing music at various local venues. The public is
invited.
November 9, 4:00 p.m. - "A Parlor Concert" Windermere PC will present "A Parlor Concert" on November 9, 4:00 p.m. with Elizabeth Albritton, alto, David Williams, baritone, and Candy Williams, piano and organ. Turn of the Century songs (that would be the 19th and 20th century turns!) and fun ditties will include some audience participation. Your host and hostess will be specially attired for the occasion. This should be fun, so bring friends! Public is invited. Concert is free.
December 14, 3:00 p.m. - "Cantata, Carols, and Home for Christmas" "Cantata, Carols, and Home for Christmas" will be presented on December 14, 3:00 p.m. The Windermere choir with orchestra and soloists will perform Kuhnau's "Unto Us a Child is Born" (formerly attr. to J.S. Bach as Cantata 142). Carols of the season for congregation and choir accompanied by organ and orchestra will be included. A reception will follow in the narthex with Christmas cookies and punch, along with an artistic display entitled "Home for Christmas". The orchestra will include 3 violinists, 1 viola, cello, 2 flutes, 2 oboes and organ. Soloists include Elizabeth Albritton, Jenny Wright, David Anderson and David Williams. Music Director, Candy Williams, will play organ and conduct.
Members of the Windermere congregation and friends are invited to bring homemade Advent and Christmas items to be used in the display. Items will be accepted in the church office through December 8. This event is free and the public is invited!
November 23, 7:00 p.m. - Thanksgiving Service with sister churches - Westminster PC, Chestnut PC, and Pearsall PC. Windermere will host our community Thanksgiving service this year on November 23. The service begins at 7:00 p.m. All interested in singing in the combined choir should attend the rehearsal at 6:00 p.m. Our anthem will be an “Alleluia Canon” by William Boyce. Additional special music will be offered. Anyone interested in being a part of this choir is welcome. Please contact Candy Williams for more information.
